As you know, I tried to participate in ScrapStreet’s Star challenge a few weeks ago. My inability to read the instructions correctly on the second challenge made for a premature departure from the competition. I promise that will not happen again! LOL!

Now that the challenge is over and the 2009 ScrapStreet Star has been crowned, I wanted to share what I created!

The first challenge called for us to use the index prints that usually come with your photographs when you pick them up at the store. While you didn’t have to use your actual index prints, the idea was to use small photos. I happen to have a plethora of index prints, so I decided to put some of them to use and this is what I created.

Finding Me

cardstock: SEI

patterned paper: Basic Grey, Best Creations, GCD Studios

punch: Fiskars, Martha Stewart

ribbon: Basic Grey

rub-ons: October Afternoon

rhinestones: Heidi Swapp

pen: American Crafts

The second challenge was to use our hole punches in a creative manner. This is where I messed up. We were suppose to create two projects and I just did one. I did not realize my mistake until a few hours before the deadline. Unfortunately for me, it was right before I had to head out to pick up my kids from school and once they are home, my scrapping time is over. That’s okay, I learned a valuable lesson from this! And, there is always next year. πŸ˜‰

Here is my one project. πŸ™‚

Beauty in Bloom

cardstock: Bazzill

patterned paper and alpha stickers: Basic Grey

punch: Fiskars

rub-ons: Heidi Grace Designs

pen: American Crafts

tool: Silhouette

And finally, I also created a card with one of the ScrapStreet sketches. I promise that the card started out looking like the sketch, it just didn’t end up that way. Here is the sketch and my card.

Happy News!

I hope you are having a good day! It is looking very cloudy outside right now, but we need the rain, so I shouldn’t complain. πŸ˜‰

I have some fun news to share with you today! First, another layout I did was selected for the May issue ofΒ  ScrapStreet.com. It is a layout I did based on a sketch I found on their site. I shared about it here.

Also, I found out yesterday that I was one of the 40 ladies selected as a “Spotlight Gal” from the GCD Studios design team call. You can read the official announcement here. I am beyond honored and humbled. The list of ladies is AMAZING!!! It feels incredible to see my name on a list with all of those talented women!

And lastly, I can’t leave you without something a little bit crafty. Here is a card I created using the sketch from theΒ  Cuttlebug Be Inspired Challenge #25. I also used the latest KWerner Color Inspiration #48.

There are some seriously talented ladies. You have to check out their gallery for inspiration. I could spend hours in there looking at all of the eye candy!

Next, the new issue of ScrapStreet is up! I am so excited to have one of my cards featured in their Card Corner article. Mine is on page 13. πŸ˜‰

Serenity

A new challenge has been posted on the Salt blog! This week, the focus is on Serenity and it couldn’t be more timely! Having my daughter home sick all week has really thrown my schedule right out the door and I love my schedule!!! This has not made for a very serene week at my house. πŸ˜‰ But, through it all, this challenge has helped me when I needed it the most. Right when I am about to lose it, God reminds me that He is in control and working on this challenge has helped me to focus on Him and the blessings He has provided. Even if one of those blessings is sitting on the couch whining right now. πŸ™‚

Here is my layout:

patterned paper: GCD Studios

And of course, I had to make a card with the scraps! Here is my take on the Mojo Monday Week 78 sketch!

First Salt Project is Up!

My first challenge as a Saltine is up on the Salt Challenge Blog! Today, the challenge is being sponsored by A Faith Perspective which is a part of Scrapbook News and Review. SNR is a subscription based ezine.

The challenge today is a friendship challenge based on this verse found in Proverbs 18:24, “A man who has friends must himself be friendly, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.”

Here is my creation!

Removed For Publication(Friend card)

cardstock: The Paper Company, Bazzill

patterned paper: Daisy Bucket

punch: Fiskars

stamp: Stampavie–Rachelle Anne Miller

ink: Staz-On

colored pencils: Crayola

font: Susie’s Hand

I got this wonderful stamp from the Mothers and Daughters Creations online store. I have actually never used a stamp with so much detail before. I also used colored pencils to color in my image. That was a first too! I actually had to go digging through my kids’ coloring supply to borrow their Crayola pencils! πŸ™‚ If I decide that this is something I want to keep on doing, I will invest in some real pencils eventually! LOL!

And this card also fits the current “Critter” challenge up on the Caardvarks blog!

Have a great Saturday!

Once I was finished with this layout, I had a few scraps laying around, so I decided to make a card. I know, you’re totally shocked! 8)

I pulled out my scraps box today and went to work! LOL! I was trying to see how many projects I could come up…and it was more than I expected! I have also decided that I am not going to add scraps to my scrap box, but leave them on my “workspace” aka the dining room table and keep on using them until they are gone. If everything starts looking a like, that is why! πŸ˜‰

The first thing I did was create a corner bookmark that was this weeks challenge on the 3D Design Challenge blog. I have always wanted to learn how to make one and it was just as much fun as I thought it would be! I can see making a lot more of these in the future!

Next up, I wanted to get back on track with the challenges over at The Pink Elephant Challenge blog. I didn’t have enough time to participate in their second challenge since we were gone for most of last week, but here is my take on this week’s challenge, a sketch by one of their design team members, Carol Houghton. The card also fits the current kraft challenge over at Caardvarks.

I also stopped by the KWerner Design blog to check out this week’s color inspiration.

Even though the deadline for linking up was on Saturday, I decided to play with these colors and see what I came up with! What do you think?

Finally, I decided to give the Mojo Monday sketch another try. I wasn’t 100% pleased with my first attempt and wanted to see if I could do a better job, so here is the sketch again and a new card.

Not feeling super creative right now…maybe it is just because I am REALLY tired. I could use a nap! LOL! But, I have laundry and dishes calling my name as soon as I finish up this post.

I have been working on getting the layouts ready for my March class over at Memories Live On. Can’t share them with you just yet, but soon. πŸ˜‰

Instead, here are a couple of cards I did while I was waiting for the glue to dry on my layouts.

First up is my take on Cuttlebug Challenge #18. This week, the challenge was to make a shaped card (other than rectangular or square). I also decided to make it fit the Caardvarks challenge (use a heart) and used most of the colors from the KWerner Design Blog Color Inspiration #41.

I actually didn’t use the gray and am not sure that my card qualifies, but that’s okay!

And, both of these cards are made entirely from my stash and scraps!

My second stash card was done using the Mojo Monday Sketch (#73) and the first challenge over at a new card challenge blog, The Pink Elephant.

Here is the sketch (Isn’t it gorgeous? I just love how pretty the sketches are!):

And here is my take:

I think I have had some of this stuff floating around in my stash for up to three years! It felt so good to use it! LOL!

Cards from Scraps!

As I shared in my previous post, I am trying to use up my scraps! And the best way for me to do this is to make a card (or two, or three) after I am done with a layout. Here are some more cards that I put together using some scraps left over from the creating I did this weekend.

This first card I did using a sketch I found over at the Card Patterns blog.

cardstock: The Paper Company, Bazzill

patterned paper: Making Memories

flowers: Heidi Grace Designs

ribbon: Making Memories

buttons: unknown

punch: Martha Stewart

tool: Cuttlebug and Swiss Dots embossing folder

This next one is SUPER simple. I used a Becky Fleck sketch that was featured on the Caardvarks blog a little while ago.

transparency: Hambly

stamp: Heidi Grace Designs

ink: Staz-On

flower: Prima

brad: Making Memories

This Basic Grey collection (Oh Baby! Boy) was my first Basic Grey purchase when I started scrapping about 4 years ago! I used it to make my son’s baby album but was very frugal with it, so I still have some left! LOL!
