I think sometimes, at least I do, we get caught up in the busyness of the holidays without really taking time to stop and appreciate what is going on around us. With this in mind, I created this Thanksgiving mini album as a place to record our thoughts for what we are thankful for.

I loved working with this line from Bella Blvd. I think I used just about every scrap that was given to me! It was so much fun to do this.

Each “page” is really an envelope. Inside the envelope is a tag with a place to write a short note about what we are thankful for on Thanksgiving day. Since there are four members in  my family, I decided to stick with four pages, but you could definitely create as many as you would like. Get ready for lots of photos!

Supply List:

Paper: Bella Blvd “Thankful: Bountiful, Cute Cuts, Homey, Perfect Day, Our Spot, Turkey Tracks”; Cardstock: Bazzill “Bahama, Mocha Divine, Navy, Rainforest, Sun Coral, White”; Adhesive: Beacon Adhesives “3-IN-1 Advanced Craft Glue,” EK Success “EK Tools: 3D-Dots,” GlueArts “GlueGlider Pro: PermaTac”; Embellishments: Doodlebug Designs “Button”; Ink: Rubber Stampede “Pigment: Coffee Bean”; Stickers: Bella Blvd “Thankful: Alpha+Bits, Just Write Journaling Stickers”; Tools: Fiskars “Border Punch: Scallop Sentiment,” “Squeeze Punch: Corner Rounder, Seal of Approval (XL),” We R Memory Keepers “Crop-A-Dile”; Misc: Ribbon

I hope you are taking time to stop and take a look around you at the blessings in your life as we enter this hectic holiday season. I know I am going to!

I hope you are having a wonderful Valentine’s Day doing things you love with those that you love! Nothing really special planned today for us because my kids are on winter break next week and we have lots going on then! So today, we are just relaxing at home which is SOOO nice. We rarely get a weekend with nothing to do!

So, if you are home with nothing to do…go check out today’s post on the Fiskateer blog! All five of the 2008 Fiskateers of Year did a special Valentine project to share!

I knew what I wanted to do as soon as I saw this darling heart on the 3-D Design Challenge blog. I knew my daughter would love to have a little holder to bring her Valentine’s home in. I was right! We had a great time making this together…well, she picked out everything and I put it together with her anxiously hovering over me to make sure I did it right! LOL! Here is the final result!

cardstock: Close to My Heart

patterned paper:  Cloud 9 Design

flowers: American Crafts, unknown

ribbon: Oriental Trading Company, Michaels

brads: JoAnns

When my son saw it, he even said it was “cool.” I asked him if he would like one to take to school to put his Valentine’s in. He said only if I could make it in the shape of a Longhorn. Yeah…Mommy’s not that talented. LOL!

Last of my Christmas creations

After making all of the cards and card boxes, I had to have something to put them in. I made a quick trip to Target and discovered that gift bags were not cheap, nor were they very cute. I decided that I could make my own simple bags, so that is what I did! I found some winter themed paper I had been hoarding and went to work!

patterned paper and sticker tags: Heidi Grace Designs

punch: Fiskars

bag: Michaels

All of the bags were created with the same materials. Once the card boxes were wrapped with a bit of tissue paper and put into the bags, all of my handmade Christmas presents were complete. Now, it is on to wrapping the rest of the gifts!

Card box #1

My first home made Christmas gift is complete! Well, actually if you count the boxes and cards I had already made for the SEI contest and for my Project Friday, I have 3 gifts complete! Whoo Hoo! That means I only need about 6 or 7 more. (Can you hear the sarcasm?) With about 2 weeks to go, I better get cranking!!

This gift is for my daughter’s teacher. I decided to add a post-it note holder that Kristine posted as a make-and-take during Sketchfest over at Creative Scrappers last week. As a result, my daughter’s teacher has a little coordinated gift set. I rather like how it turned out 🙂
