Here are a couple more layouts that I did with the Colorbok line I received from Memories Live On.

I have to say that once I got past my initial hesitation, I really enjoyed creating with these papers and embellishments. In fact, I think the following layout is one of my favorite ones I have done in a long time. Who would have thought? =)

It also really helped that when I was working with these papers, I went to a crop with a friend of mine. It was a new environment and I think all the energy and creative vibes as well as just the enjoyment of getting to hang out with a good friend, really helped me get creative.

Supply List:

Paper: Colorbok “Antique Paperie: 12×12 Glitter Paper Pad, Page Pockets”; Adhesive: GlueArts “GlueGlider Pro: PermaTac,” “Ribbon Adhesive”; Ink: Rubber Stampede “Pigment: Coffee Bean”; Pen: American Crafts “Precision Pen: Brown (.03)”; Ribbon: May Arts “Crochet/Velvet Center 1.5″: 372-15-32 (Brown with Cream)”; Stickers: Bella Blvd “Sophisticates by Stephanie: Blue High Five Alphabets,” Colorbok “Antique Paperie: Clear Quote Stickers”; Misc: Butterflies

Aren’t the butterflies beautiful? I found them at the crop I was attending and they added the perfect finishing touch for this layout. =)

Sometimes, when you are creating, it is good to be pushed out of your comfort zone. It isn’t always fun, but you might be amazed at what you create!

Recently, I was presented with some papers from my local scrapbook store, Memories Live On, to work with. I have to say, if I had seen these on the shelf, they probably would not have gotten more than a passing glance. I don’t know if it  is the colors or the style, but it would not be something I would have chosen for myself.

Well, it is a VERY good thing that I was given them to work with. I wasn’t sure what to do when I first received them, but I ended up really enjoying the process of creating quite a few layouts with them. Here are a couple of layouts featuring Colorbok Antique Paperie. (Sorry for the glare. I forgot to order matte photos.)

I wanted to make sure you saw the bits of glitter on this “Special Moments” sticker. It was the perfect embellishment!

These are projects that were featured in Scrap n’ Art that I forgot to share. Oops!

This first layout can be found in the August 2012 issue in the “Summer Fun – Use Your Stash” article

I used Little Yellow Bicycle papers and embellishments to make this.

This next layout is from way back in the May issue and can be seen in the Get Sketchy with Us! article.

I had a great time using my Silhouette (yes, I still have the original machine) to make these flowers. I also used it to cut the chevrons. The paper goes way back too…it is some Pink Paislee from a couple of years ago, but I still love it! And, I was so glad to have the chance to use it.

Stayed tune for some more creations next week. In the meantime, have a wonderful, crafty weekend!

My poor blog. It is the first thing that gets pushed to the side when things get busy. It’s not for lack of things to share. Amazingly, I actually have quite a few projects that I haven’t had a chance to post online. I just don’t have enough time in the day. Even that extra hour of daylight savings wasn’t enough!

Anyways, let me start off by sharing that the November issue of Scrap n’ Art Magazine is now live. It has some great articles and projects featuring Jenni Bowlin, Anna Griffin, Lawn Fawn and ImpressArt.

That also means there is a new set of submissions calls. They are for the January 2013 issue. (Wow! I can’t believe we are already at the end of another year!)

Here they are:

Scrap n’ Art January 2013 Submission Call

Scrap n’ Art is currently looking for submissions for our January 2013 issue. We are looking for your layouts, cards, altered art and out of the box creations that follow the theme ”New Beginnings.”

Can you believe it is almost time for the start of a new year? 2013 is just around the corner, so our thoughts turn to “new beginnings.” Does a new year mean a new you? Are you a resolution maker? Do not limit yourself. Show us a “new” technique or how you use your “new” favorite product. Anything goes!

Whatever you do, we want you to share them with us! Digital, traditional or hybrid, anything goes! You can also submit as many projects as your heart desires. To submit, please follow the guidelines below. Deadline for all submissions is December 1, 2012.

To submit, please send the following information to submissions@scrapnart.com:

  • Your name and email
  • A photo of your project (Please include additional photos of details. Limit photo size to less than 1 MB each.)
  • Title of your project
  • A supply list of all items used. (Please include manufacturer and item. If in doubt, please include the information.)
  • In the subject line, please put “January 2013″
  • If you would like for us to include a link to your blog, please share your blog address.

And here is a project that I thought I had already shared, but apparently I didn’t.  😉

Hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!

Fall Memories

I am not a fan of camping. Roughing it in the great outdoors does not hold much appeal to me. Now, don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against spending the day outdoors enjoying the beauty of nature. I just don’t see the point of sleeping in a tent on the ground with no heat.

My daughter, on the other hand, really wanted to go camping. Her brother goes each year with the boy’s group at church. She wanted to know why her girl’s group didn’t do the same thing. After much discussion, it was decided that we would have a mom and daughter weekend out in the woods. However, instead of tents, we were able to go yurt camping. It made it a little better. There were bunks with “mattresses,” but with multiple people in each yurt, sleep was scarce.

The girls had a great time. I can’t say the same for the moms! We need a little more sleep than what we got. Still, it was a fun weekend. The girls got to hike, make smores and go the weekend without showering–just like the boys.

I used the Bella Blvd Thankful collection for this layout. Love this line! I especially love all the little stickers that came on their Alpha+Bits and Just Write Journaling Stickers sheets.

(Cardstock: Bazzill “Simon”; Paper: Bella Blvd “Thankful: Cute Cuts, Homey, Perfect Day, Turkey Tracks (A&B)”; Adhesive: GlueArts “GlueGlider Pro: PermaTac,” EK Success “EK Tools: 3D-Dots”; Pen: American Crafts “Precision Pen .03: Brown”)

Although you might think that we don’t really experience a change in the weather here in Northern California, we feel the shift to fall too.

Sometimes it is a gradual shift, which is nice. Other times, it is like this week, where it was blasting summer hot at the beginning of the week (100’s!) and down to a nice, balmy 70’s by the end of the week.

The change in the weather put me in the mood to make some fall themed projects. Luckily, the products I got from Memories Live On were perfect for what I had in mind!

(Paper: Bella Blvd “Thankful: Bountiful, Burlap, Homey, Our Spot”; Stickers: Bella Blvd “Thankful: Alpha+Bits, Just Write Journaling Stickers”; Adhesive: GlueArts “GlueGlider Pro: PermaTac”)

It’s been a busy week of baseball here at my house. My son is playing in All-Stars and they are 2-1 in a double elimination playoff format. They played on Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights and practiced the other two nights. Whew!

This has not left me with much time for creating, plus with it being the end of the month, I have been busy editing the July issue of Scrap n’ Art which goes live tomorrow! Make sure you check it out.

But, I realized I do have some projects I haven’t even had time to share yet, so here is one more!

This is another layout I did for Memories Live On using Little Yellow Bicycle Hello Spring and Echo Park Hello Spring.

We have another baseball game on Monday, but I will try and share a couple more projects next week.

Until then, keep crafting!
